Trim Levels
Just five trim levels makes your choice easy. The base trim, SXT, comes equipped with some not-so-basic features like roof rails, a chrome surround grille, heated side mirrors, fog lights, automatic headlights, 18-inch wheels, and deep tinted windows. An upgrade to the GT trim adds a chrome-tipped exhaust, power liftgate, 20-inch alloy wheels, and a remote starter. The Citadel trim level comes with chrome accents throughout the exterior, power-folding heated side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators and memory function, a sunroof, automatic windshield wipers, and automatic high beams. If you step up to the R/T trim, you'll get high-intensity discharge headlights, LED fog lights, and a performance hood design. For those looking for some serious performance, the SRT trim is your best choice. It gets 20-inch gloss-black aluminum wheels with red brake calipers showing through the spokes, auto-leveling headlights, an intake hood, and a sleek, sporty body structure designed to wow and perform.
Engine
The 2019 Durango offers three engine options depending on the trim chosen. A 3.6-liter V-6 engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission gets 295 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. With the 360-horsepower, 390 pound-feet, 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine, you'll get even more power and fuel economy with a fuel-saving system that uses cylinder deactivation. The SRT trim gets a 475-horsepower, 6.4-liter V-8 engine that puts out 470 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The V-6 engine can tow up to 6,200 pounds when properly equipped, while the 5.7-liter V-8 can tow as much as 7,400 pounds. If you go for the SRT model, you'll be able to tow up to 8,700 pounds with the proper equipment. Rear-wheel or all-wheel drive is available for all trims except for the SRT, which only comes in all-wheel drive. For the best performance the Durango has to offer, the SRT trim comes with a performance-tuned suspension, active damping, large sway bars, and performance brakes.
Interior
The 2019 Dodge Durango with two rows of seats will accommodate five people, while the optional third row available on most trims ups that number to seven. With 90-degree opening rear doors and second-row seats that easily flip and fold down, you'll be able to load the car with friends or family no problem. Fold all the seats down for as much as 84.5 cubic feet of cargo space. A 7-inch full digital infotainment display comes standard on all trims with the option to upgrade to an 8.4-inch screen. The UConnect 4 system offers total connectivity with systems like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Three-zone automatic climate control will keep everyone comfortable, even in the far back seats.
Safety Features
Front impact, side and overhead curtain air bags, plus a strong, steel frame will keep you and your passengers well-protected in the case of an accident. Several active safety features are available for the 2019 Durango to help avoid accidents altogether, like adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and lane keeping assistance.
